1) We have the privilege of becoming sons and daughters of God because God loved us even before the foundation of the world and planned then already to adopt us as his children. (Ephesians 1:5, Galatians 4:5-7).
2) We become children of God when we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as savior and Lord of our lives. (John 1:12)
3) We become children of God by being born of the Holy Spirit. (John 1:13, John 3)
4) As children of God we are a new creation. We have Christ’s nature. We love what God loves and hate what God hates. We have Christ’s DNA. (2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 John 3:9)
5) As children of God we are perfectly and unconditionally loved by our heavenly Father. We are accepted by Him and He finds pleasure in us. We bring joy to our Father’s heart simply by being His Children. (1 John 4:16-18, Psalm 149:4, Psalm 147:11, Zephaniah 3:17)
6) We have a Father who provides for all our needs and blesses us abundantly (Philippians 4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:8, Ephesians 1:3).
7) We have a Father who disciplines us. He corrects us when we do wrong. He teaches us his way, and He works in us to do what pleases Him and to do it willingly. (Psalm 25:8-9, Hebrews 12:6, Philippians 2:13)
8) We have a heavenly Father who protects us from evil and from the evil one (1 John 5:18, 2 Thessalonians 3:3).
9) We have a Father who has compassion for us and who understands us. He understands our weaknesses and our heartaches. He is there for us with His mighty power even at times of utter weakness. (Psalm 103: 13-14, 2 Corinthians 12:9)
10) We have a father who forgives all our sins. He holds no grudge against us. He is slow to anger and full of grace towards us. (Psalm 103:3,8-12)
11) We have a heavenly Father who heals us. He heals all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3)
12) We have a heavenly Father who never leaves us nor forsakes us. He takes us by our right hand and tells us not to be afraid. (Hebrews 13:5, Isaiah 41:10-13)
